Joram is six years old. When we first met him, he couldn’t stand or walk, and even the simplest movements were a struggle. Today, he is learning to walk! His steps may not be perfect, but he is smiling, laughing, and growing stronger each week.
Joram lives with his grandmother after being abandoned by his parents. With the support of joint orthoses (KFOs), his legs are now properly supported and straightened. Regular home visits will also make a significant difference, as they will provide him with the care and attention he needs while allowing us to monitor his progress.

Sharita's journey has been truly remarkable. She arrived weak and undernourished, with her legs tightly contracted, which made movement difficult and progress seem distant. However, now her legs are beginning to move more freely. She is laughing, smiling, and engaging with the world around her by turning her head toward sounds in ways she couldn’t before.
These moments remind us why we do what we do.
Today, Shanita inspired us by showing that even though we may not be engaged in our desired work, our small achievements still make a significant impact.
When we first met Shanita, she was in poor health, her legs contracted, and she was undernourished. Now, we’ve witnessed remarkable progress. Today, the physiotherapist and I felt hopeful as we saw her ability to move her legs more freely, perform challenging exercises, and respond to stimuli, such as turning her head toward a small egg toy.
Most of a child's life occurs outside the clinic, where we see each child for just 20 minutes. While children like Jarom and Sharita are making great strides, many others still need care and attention.
We are committed to supporting these children not only in the clinic but also at home. If you’d like to help, a small donation can fund a home visit.

In Uganda, poverty and stigma leave many children with disabilities without care.
