A Clinic I Will Never Forget
Yesterday’s clinic was the most powerful one I have ever led. From the very beginning, I felt a strong prompting to pray for the women. It was not a passing thought; it stayed with me, persistent and significant, and I knew we needed to create space for it.
We began by inviting prayer requests and shared from Psalm 139:1–3. That simple moment opened the door. Slowly, the women began to share their stories. Their experiences carry real weight. Being a parent of a child with a disability is already demanding, but in communities where stigma and rejection are common, the burden becomes even heavier.
Three women spoke openly. Mama Imruan is facing deep conflict with her in-laws; she believes her sister-in-law is using witchcraft against her son and daughter. Mama Shakira told us how her husband was robbed, and their home was broken into. She expressed feeling constantly under attack.
As we listened, Israel and Enoch shared about prayer—not just how to pray, but about the power of prayer. What stood out most was this: every woman wanted prayer.
Every woman desired to be seen by God, regardless of her background—whether Muslim, Catholic, or SDA—they all sought a touch from Him.
As we discussed God’s love and His care for them amidst their situations, something shifted in the room. You could feel it. The atmosphere grew still yet full. Peace settled in a way I have never experienced before.
By the time we finished, there was a quiet joy among the women. It was as if something heavy had been lifted.
We then moved into physiotherapy exercises, but the ministry did not stop there. We spent extra time with two mothers who were carrying especially heavy burdens, offering encouragement and simply being present with them.
Yesterday was a reminder that sometimes the most important work is not in the program itself, but in making space for God to meet people right where they are.
